Caffè Moak was founded in 1967, thanks to the entrepreneurship of Giovanni Spadola who, with love and dedication, passed on the tradition of one of the most consumed beverages in the world: coffee. A story of passion that began in a small workshop in Modica, Sicily in the 1970s, and still deeply rooted in the millennia-old history of the city, originally named Mohac by the Arabs. Ensuring high-quality coffee has been Giovanni’s goal from the start, selecting and directly importing the finest beans from South America, India, and Africa in the early years.
From the mid-90s, the second generation of the Spadola family joined the company, with Alessandro – the eldest son and now CEO of the group along with Annalisa – currently the Director of Marketing & Communication, leading the company to considerable expansion in the Italian territory and to reaching foreign markets.
The development was marked by various investments aimed at changing organizational structures, starting with the introduction of an integrated ERP (SAP) technology system to ensure control and stability of data, then moving on to skills development, and finally defining business models to support the multiple changes in the market.
Nationally, the acquisitions of Mokafè (Alba) and Caffè Circi (Rome) in 2022 led to a widespread strengthening in the Piedmont and Lazio markets: in terms of revenue, volume, and also visibility of the Moak brand, due to distribution through Circi sales channels. For brand consolidation in foreign markets, particularly the United Arab Emirates, a new company, Caffè Moak Trading LLC, was established in Dubai, with the intention, however, to keep production, logistics, administrative functions, and control concentrated in a single location in Modica.
Today, the company, with its four brands – Moak, Marsalì, Circi, and Mokafè – exports to over 50 countries worldwide and boasts four international offices in Germany, Greece, Malta, and the United States. Particularly focused on the ho.re.ca. sector, Caffè Moak Spa has a daily production capacity of 60 tons, meticulously monitored by the internal chemical laboratory, which for over 20 years, has been analyzing quality from raw material to finished product, thus improving all production and quality processes. Coffee is an art encapsulated in a cup that requires experience and care: this is how the company invests daily, not only in the product but also in professional training, providing professional courses at the dedicated classroom in Modica, and various classrooms throughout Italy and abroad.
Caffè Moak continues its positive growth trend, closing 2023 with a turnover of 25 million euros, an increase of 36.82% compared to the previous year. This milestone was achieved thanks to the attention to product and service quality, investments in production, logistics, marketing, and communication, and the expansion of the product portfolio with various types of blends, including single-origin, and the introduction of new lines with dedicated merchandising.
